News. Retrospective in Japan

Tokyo, 22 september 2006

The Gala-Salvador Dalí Foundation inaugurated in Tokyo a large-scale exhibition on the artist under the title Dalí Centennial Retrospective, bringing together a total of 104 pieces (oils paintings, water colours, drawings and one object) and photographs, ceded in equal numbers from the collections of the Dalí Foundation and the Salvador Dalí Museum of Saint Petersburg (Florida). The inaugural ceremony was attended by the Ambassador of Spain in Japan, the Rt. Hon. Miguel Ángel Carriedo Mompín, together with the Chairman of the Dalí Foundation, Ramon Boixadós, the Director of the Centre for Dalinian Studies, Montse Aguer, and the Foundation’s Managing Director Joan Manuel Sevillano. The exhibition will be held at The Ueno Royal Museum of Tokyo until 4 January 2007.
The co-organisers are Asahi Shimbun and Fuji TV. The aim is to publicise the centennial of Dalí's birth in countries such as Japan, which could not included in the circuits of the two great exhibitions organised for Dalí Year itself.
