Figueres, 1 June 2006
The ADG-FAD, the Association of Art Directors and Graphic Designers, has celebrated the thirty-sixth edition of the Laus awards, the prizes for Graphic Design and Visual Communication, seeking to let the finest works presented express through themselves the importance of graphic design and art direction.
Once again this year a Spanish and international multidisciplinary jury has been selected, with members whose own professional career-paths ensure that the awards are in line with the status enjoyed by these prizes.
This year, the catalogue for the Dallibres exhibition, which was held at the Gala Dalí House-Museum in Púbol from 18 March to 31 December 2005, was awarded the Golden Laus as a complete book in the Graphic Design Category. Curated by Montse Aguer and coordinated by the Centre for Dalinian Studies, this Exhibition sought to draw spectators into the universe of the Dalí as reader and person keenly interested in the world of books. The photographs of Salvador Dalí and Gala, taken by photographers of the prestige of Brassaï, Man Ray, Eric Schaal, Català Roca, Ricard Sans, Juan Gyenes and Meli, were the main feature of the exhibition, which also included oil paintings, drawings and illustrations for books and first editions.
The Laus 2006 event included the holding of the 9th edition of the Laus Awards for Institutional Graphics and Communication, also organised by the ADG-FAD, together with Barcelona Provincial Council, Barcelona City Council, the Government of Catalonia and the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces. This was the category under which Dallibres was awarded the Silver Laus in the publishing section.
These prizes awarded to the Dallibres catalogue, published by DAS, with articles by Montse Aguer and design by Àlex Gifreu, distinguish the Gala-Salvador Dalí Foundation as an institution that makes a firm stand for excellent design and graphic quality.
