Figueres, 28 May 2004
The dome of the Dalí Theatre-Museum formed the backdrop for inauguration of the Regional and Local Press Congress, organised by the Catalan Association of Regional Press (ACPC) and the L’Empordà weekly, with the collaboration of the Gala-Salvador Dalí Foundation. The inaugural event was attended by the Prime Minister of the Catalan Government, Rt. Hon. Josep Bargalló, the Mayor of Figueres, Joan Armangué, the Chairman of the ACPC, Joan Garrido, and the weekly paper’s Manager, Carles Ayats. As part of the event, those present were able to enjoy a talk about Salvador Dalí’s relationship with the press, given by the art critic and journalist Daniel Giralt-Miracle. To conclude, a guided visit of the Dalí Theatre-Museum was offered.
The Congress, which has now reached its sixth four-yearly edition, was held on 28 and 29 May at the El Pa Volador restaurant, and welcomed regional and local press representatives from all over Catalonia, with a view to presenting an updated overview of sectoral tendencies and innovations and debating subjects of interest to the profession, such as the challenges it faced in a globalised world, language, immigration, new advertising concepts, etc.
