Iberia has now officially joined the Dalí Year Promotion Committee after the company’s manager in Catalonia, Luis Pérez Villar, signed the protocol with the chairman of the Gala-Salvador Dalí Foundation, Ramon Boixadós.
Iberia becomes the third company to have joined the Dalí Year Promotion Committee, after the publishing group Grup Planeta and the Spanish state broadcasting station RTVE did so a few weeks ago. Iberia’s representative announced that the company would be placing the artist’s name on a new plane, an Airbus 340-600, which would be coming into service in June this year.
Referring to the announcement, the chairman of the Dalí Foundation, Ramon Boixadós, said that “Salvador Dalí will be once again flying through the sky”, for the artist himself had previously created a work for Iberia, which was for a time on exhibition in the first-class compartment of a DF-10 plane and is now on view in the board of directors’ meeting room at Iberia’s head office. The signing ceremony was also attended by the Dalí Year co-ordinator, Montse Aguer, and Iberia’s head of advertising and sponsorship, Juan José Jiménez.
