The paintings in the collection are studied exhaustively in order to identify the techniques and materials used, to establish their condition and to design the right strategy for conservation. Study of the pictorial layers begins with a thorough inspection of the work under various types of light - normal, reflected light, raking light, ultraviolet light, infrared light - and documentation with macro photography.
