Observations
We call this work "The Very Happy Horse" on the basis of a letter from Salvador Dalí in which, as chair of the Board of Trustees of the Fundació Gala-Salvador Dalí, he authorizes the loan of this painting for inclusion in the exhibition "La Catalogne aujourd’hui" held at the UNESCO World Heritage Centre in Paris from March 23 to April 5, 1981. In the exhibition catalogue, however, the work is listed with the wrong title "The Happy Dead Horse", which is given in French as "Le cheval très gai", probably as a result of misreading "mort" (dead) as "molt" (very). There is a drawing on the reverse (image 2)
