Concept and content of the exhibition Stage Environment

The exhibition comprises 14 paintings and a sculpture, ranging from  1999 to 2013. The main piece is the sculpture bearing the title Mnemòsine and created  around 1975. It is an assembly of stones, pieces of slate and ceramics measuring180 x 60 x 60 cm. Once, when Gala visited Pitxot's studio in Cadaqués, she saw this sculpture and told him that if ever he staged an exhibition of his work it was very important that he included this piece, because it allowed viewers to gain a perfect understanding of Pitxot's creative process. With this exhibition, the goddess of memory, Mnemosyne, renders homage to Pitxot's memory of Gala at her Castle in Púbol. This sculpture  has never before left the artist's studio, therefore it  is the first time it is  exhibited in public. To round off the exhibition, a 25-minute  is projected  about Antoni Pitxot, his creative process and his relationship with Salvador Dalí, who appointed him Director of his museum in Figueres.

Video

The Dalí Foundation has produced a video  to accompany the exhibition and the catalogue. The goal is to acquaint us with Antoni Pitxot's work and show us his creative process. The documentary starts off with an interview, stressing the close relationship between the two artists. Antoni Pitxot, friend and collaborator of Salvador Dalí, who he had always known and with whom he shared family traditions, guides us through the complex world of his  creative process, as well as  Dalí's. Following the thread of  his thought, his work and his landscapes, we are invited, through this publication and the documentary, to plunge into the fascinating mystery of creation and into the evolution of key works such as the Dalí Theatre-Museum of  Figueres, a project to  which Pitxot became fully integrated.

The audiovisual was entrusted to La Nutria Produccions, directed by David Pujol with a script by Montse Aguer and David Pujol and produced by Ivan Carrero. It lasts about an hour and includes the following sections: "Dalí-Pitxot. The Allegory of Memory", "Stage Environment", a section of extras, as well as photographs of Salvador Dalí and Antoni Pitxot inside the museum, taken by Melitó Casals, "Meli". It is made in Catalan, with subtitles in Spanish, French, English and Russian.

The documentary has been awarded with the Gold prize presented by AVICOM (the International Committee for Audiovisual and New Technologies of Image and Sound of the International Council of Museums). See the trailer of the documentary.
