Observations
This work is known by its French title, “Planaire lugubre”. Planaria are platyhelminths (flatworms) and are often found in fresh water. Our research indicates that Dalí’s interest in these invertebrates dates from the 1960s. (Salvador Dalí, ‘Picasso, Rusiñol y Dalí’, “El Noticiero Universal”, Barcelona, 6/6/1962)
